About Us
Our journey is a raw and inspiring reflection of grit, growth, and
an unshakable belief in purpose. From growing mushrooms in bathroom closets to
supplying restaurants and state parks, our story is less about mushrooms and more
about the environment—internally and externally—that we need to heal, to thrive, and to
dream forward.
Our story began in 2012 in Cincinnati, where a curiosity about mushrooms turned into
a passion project and, eventually, a calling. Kelly likes to say, “The world wasn’t ready for
mushrooms, and we weren’t either.” Life threw everything at us—Kelly’s battle with
cancer, our son’s traumatic brain aneurysm, job losses, cross-country moves, and
financial instability. Yet through it all, we kept growing—both mushrooms and our
inner resilience.
What began as a side hustle became a shared mission. Antione’s 22 years of
restaurant experience and Kelly’s background as a licensed cosmetologist, we found
ourselves not just building a farm but reprogramming ourselves from the inside out.
“Just like our mushrooms, we needed the right environment to grow,”. That
awareness sparked a transformation—not only in our business but in our personal
lives, therapy journeys, and parenting.
Today, we grow Lion’s Mane and oyster mushrooms from a converted shipping
container, retailing across the South Carolina State Park system and through a farm
cooperative that reaches over 100 institutions. We have built a brand with
impact—helping people heal through functional food, encouraging mental wellness, and
advocating for the overlooked. Our dream now is to turn our story into a platform,
creating programs to help parents reprogram trauma and inspire a new generation of
growers.
We believe our mushrooms are a vehicle—but the real message is about showing up
for yourself and others. Our vision is bigger than farming. It’s about community,
healing, and rewriting what’s possible, one mushroom at a time.
